In 1988 I
purchased my first pedigreed cat: a Maine Coon whom I named Kacy. (Kacy
stood for Kathy's Coon) I later learned from Kacy's breeder that his sister
was doing well at cat shows. I knew that cat shows took place, yet I had
never attended one. With the help of the owner of Kacy's sister, I entered
him in a nearby show. I was hooked from that day on!
About six months later, I was exhibiting
Kacy when I saw a Somali for sale. I purchased this kitten and named him
"Copper Blaze". With the cattery he came from, and my new cattery name,
his new name became NW/GP Mabuhay Copper Blaze of
Foxykats (his titles are GP - Grand Premier and NW - National Winner).
Copper and I traveled to shows all
across the U.S. Copper was the CFA Gulf Shore Region 12th best cat in Premiership
the first year that I showed him. We continued on into the next show season,
and he ended up with a National Win.
Copper was the Best Cat at in the
Gulf Shore Region in Premiership, and ended up 12th Best Cat in Premiership
Nationally. It was very exciting, and yet exhausting year. Copper is still
doing great, and enjoying staying home instead of the show life. He was
born in 1990 and is still very playful and active at home.
Since Copper, my cattery has grown
and expanded. See my show brags for a listing of
Foxykats' accomplishments.
